Tasting Notes

Merlot Reserve

TRWC’s powerhouse Merlot Reserve has been very well received with its deep nose of red berries, ripe blackcurrant and mocha.  This exceptional wine is silky and smooth on the tongue with a wonderful bouquet of plum and vanilla and a long and glorious finish.

Best served before, during and after watching rugby (obviously) and particularly with your Sunday dinner, meats, barbecues and strong cheese.

A Bordeaux-style red without the price tag that our customers absolutely rave about.

Can be laid down for at least 10 years but is also totally enjoyable right now.

Sauvignon / Semillon

TRWC’s signature Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon 50/50 blend has a heady nose with an intricate aromatic harmony of exotic fruits, white flowers, peach, citrus, elderberry and nettle. The palate offers a beautiful minerality with a long and harmonious finish.

Serve in the summer sunshine (whilst watching touch rugby on the beach) and with seafood, fresh fish, fruit salad or by itself after watching a game and you’re lazing in a hammock.

The expert blending of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, which is typical to the Bordeaux area, creates an affordable alternative to the some of the top châteaux offerings.

Correctly chilled, it will chill you out…

Merlot Rosé

TRWC’s finely balanced and agile “Provence-challenger” rosé has been a huge hit with the rugby glitterati and in equine circles alike.

A fine nose with aromas of strawberry, raspberry and cherries giving a rich taste and a long, smooth finish all the way to the line, in the Guscott mould!

Should, of course, be enjoyed by all players (male and female) on and off the field as well as by fans basking in the summer sunshine.

Be careful as this wine is proving to be very drinkable…

The Vineyard

Close to its more famous neighbour, Bordeaux, the Bergerac region (also known as Périgord or Dordogne) is just to the east of Bordeaux but is not well represented in the UK nowadays and we think that needs changing.

The Cuisset family have been making wine here since 1931 and they have refined their skills though four generations of experience. The vineyards of the Cuisset family are centred around the village of Monestier where vines have been planted since the Middle Ages.
